How do you convince a 12 year old that ghosts aren’t real?

Question by xX_Caroline_xX: How do you convince a 12 year old that ghosts aren't real?

I know a 12 year old that is still scared to death because of ghosts. She doesn't like to be alone upstairs at night. I think it's because there are a lot of odd noises like when you walk in the hallway it squeaks, the cats sometimes make noise, and walking downstairs can sometimes cause the ceiling to squeak. Can you help me to help her?
I don't know that ghosts aren't real, but I want to convince her that they are.

explain to her its the house settling.
