I need to read a historical nonfiction or biography?

Does anyone have any good historical nonfiction books or biographies for me? The requirements are it has to take place from 1960 to the present and in any area of the world EXCEPT the United States. I wanted to make this project interesting and not settle for an unenjoyable book. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Pick a subject you are interested in, and then poke around the nearest bookstore. You're bound to find something of interest.

For example ... Richard Reeves wrote day-by-day accounts of the Presidencies of Kennedy, Nixon and Reagan. All are very interesting and worthwhile. Like sports? Moneyball and the Blind Side by Michael Lewis are both terrific. Space program? Rocket Man is a good account of the Apollo 11 mission.
